 Preparing Your Immigration Documents For Your Interview

  The information on the Applying for an F-1 Visa site will help you plan your arrival and next steps in obtaining your F-1 student visa. 

   Initiate your Campus Housing Request

 ✓  Submit a Housing Request via the International Student Platform using the On-Campus Housing request
     Please note: This step is required for all students, even if you plan not to live on campus.

          Once submitted, your request for on-campus housing will be forwarded to the Office of Residence Life, which makes all housing assignments. Please keep in mind: 

  • Request submitted after the deadline will be placed on a waitlist and considered only if space becomes available.
  • International students are assigned to 10-month residence halls, with most rooms arranged as double occupancy.
  • By choosing on-campus housing, you are entering into a binding housing contract:
    • Fall admits commit to the full academic year.
    • Spring admits commit to the spring semester.
  • All students living in campus housing are required to purchase a campus meal plan.

Request JFK Airport Shuttle Service

Airport Pick up RequestTickets for the airport shuttle can be purchased online using this link.  Please note: this shuttle service is optional for all international students.

If you arrive in New York on or before the official airport pick-up date you may use our direct shuttle service from JFK Airport to SUNY New Paltz. To use this shuttle service please book a flight that lands at JFK no later than 3:00 pm (EST) on the pick-up date. Detailed information regarding the shuttle meeting location and schedule will be provided to all registered students one week prior to arrival.

Important: Shuttle service is offered only on the official airport pick-up date. 

We strongly encourage you to use this service, as taxis and public transportation can be costly and complicated. If you decide to travel to New Paltz on your own, please visit our Transportation From New York Airports webpage for helpful information and options.

 International Student Orientation

 Mandatory — All new international students must attend orientation.
 

 International Student Orientation: International Student Orientation plays an important role in integrating new students into SUNY New Paltz life. During orientation you will meet the International Programs staff and other members of the campus community, while learning about the many services and resources available to SUNY New Paltz students. You will also learn about maintaining legal status and requirements for Immigration Check-In.

 Student ID Card

Order your Student ID Card
Your SUNY New Paltz ID Card is your official SUNY New Paltz identification and will be essential for campus life. You'll use it to access your residence hall, workout at the gym, attend events, and more.

Action Required: Using your Banner ID, use this link to order your SUNY New Paltz ID Card.
Deadline: You must order your SUNY New Paltz ID card at least one week prior to Orientation.

 Course Registration

✓ Course Registration will take place during the New International Student Orientation. 
You will meet with your academic advisors to finalize your semester course registration.

 Submit your Immunization and Health Information

Please log into Medicat to submit the following (all forms available in Medicat):
 Immunization records in English or a certified translated copy

 Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire
  • If you reside in a high-risk country, we strongly encourage testing for tuberculosis be completed PRIOR to arrival to avoid expensive health care costs

Physical Form


Health Insurance - All international students are required to purchase the State University of New York health insurance policy. Students are automatically enrolled in our comprehensive student health insurance plan upon course registration.

Failure to comply with NYS Public Health Laws 2165 & 2167 can result in de-enrollment and loss of tuition.

 Take the ALEKS PPL Mathematics Assessment

Take the ALEKS mathematics assessment to ensure you receive an accurate course placement during course selection. This assessment MUST be taken without the use of a calculator to ensure proper placement. Please complete the assessment prior to your advising meeting. Completion of this placement assessment is especially important for proper course selection within our Business and STEM majors.

Submit your Final Transcripts
Final high school transcripts 

  • All transcripts must be officially sent directly from the high school and are used to demonstrate proof of graduation from high school.

College transcripts and AP, IB and college-level course work earned in high school (if applicable)

  • All college transcripts with final grades must be sent officially from the college

  • All AP, IB, and college courses taken while in high school must be sent officially from the testing agency or college where the courses were taken

Official transcripts may be sent electronically by the high school or college via email to admissions@newpaltz.edu and must be submitted prior to the first day of classes.
