While you aren’t required by the DMV to a NYS Driver's License, many F-1 students choose to apply for a NYS Driver's License. To get a NYS driver license, you must pass a written test, complete a 5-hour pre-licensing course and pass a road test to qualify for a NYS driver license. You must be in valid F-1 student status,
enrolled full time,
current semester invoice must be processed or paid
current local address updated in my.newpaltz.edu, and
have no active holds on your record
Ensure that your address is current in my.newpaltz.edu and that no holds exist on your record.
Click on the link below, Request DMV Letter.
You will be prompted to log in to your ISS-Profile.
Complete the NYS Driver's License (DMV) Letter Request.
Be sure to click submit to ensure your request is sent to International Student Programs.
You will receive an email from the International Student Services office once your letter request has been completed.
